2023 will mark the 95th anniversary for Springdale. In 1928 a few brave soldiers ventured to plant a new congregation of believers in the north Memphis community. And here we are today, still standing. Times have changed from the traditional church service of deacons praying for 15 minutes and singing the traditional gospel song or the long metered Dr. Watts. Times have changed from meeting on the 1st and 3rd Sunday or the 2nd and 4th Sunday, depending on who was the pastor at the time. Times have changed from the choir marching in to “We Have Come This Far By Faith,” which took about 15 minutes to get to the choir stand. Times have changed, but God’s Word has remained relevant in our community and we have remained relevant. We have survived the depression, world wars, a church split, the death and departure of spiritual leaders, and even a present day deadly pandemic. We have survived and now we are preparing to celebrate our humble beginnings on Hunter Avenue to our ministry growth on Springdale Street. Whether you are a life-long member or a member of a few years or weeks, your first memory as a member should be exciting and joyful. What has been your membership experience here @ The Spring?
